StoneBoat Arts Centre Presents: Self-directed Residencies


Are you an artist looking for space to create in the middle of nature? 

SBAC is offering  a self-driven program where you have the freedom to direct your own experience while on the farm. Artists of all disciplines are welcome.  The NEXT residencies will be SPRING/SUMMER 2025.

StoneBoat Arts Centre is located on Omàmìwininìwag (Algonquin) territory. 

Features of SBAC

  • Accommodations

    -Cabin A (10x10) 1-2 people with small desk

    -Cabin B: (10x10) 1-2 people, no desk

    -Cabin C: (10x10) 1-2 people with desk & bunk bed

    -Cabin D: (10x16) 1-2 people, no desk

    -Cook house with a shared kitchen and lounge area.

    -One shared washroom cabin (with shower).

  • Extra Studio Space

    -One immense 24x32 ft. barn with a sprung dance floor is available for performing artists.

    -A mid-sized library barn with balcony suitable for writing/brainstorming.

    -Workshop with 100s of tools and space for visual artists.

  • Other Features

    -240 acres of land

    -Instruments for rental (guitars, amps, keyboard, cables, mics).

    -Free Wifi and cell service

    -Sleeping cabins do not have electricity, rustic style!

    -Sleeper cabins are also spaces to create in!

Fees & other info

Fee: $100/night, $160 for duos*

*duo = will share a double bed

You can apply as a solo artist or group of up to 8

Writers, visual artists, dancers, theatre makers, musicians, multi-disciplined geniuses…

Meals are not provided by SBAC. This is a bring-your-own-food & drink retreat!

How to get there

1 hour 20 min south of Ottawa (by car)

3.5 hours east of Toronto (by car)

If you are unable to access a vehicle to drive to our farm, we can arrange a shuttle service for $25 a head from the Smiths Falls train station. If we have artists coming from the same location we can also help arrange a carpool which we encourage.
